Understand the Numbers Before You Visit a Dealership
““Throughout my career, I saw buyers arrive with a vehicle and payment in mind, but without a clear view of all the numbers that shape the deal. I created iCarBuyer so people could work through those numbers privately before speaking with a dealership.””

What Shapes Your Vehicle Payment
VEHICLE
The vehicle, trim and estimated price establish the starting point.
FINANCING
Your interest rate, term, down payment and payment frequency affect both the payment and cost of borrowing
TRADE
Your vehicle’s value and any amount still owing determine whether you have positive or negative equity.
CHOICES
Cash, finance or lease—along with taxes, licensing and any optional products you select—complete the purchase scenario.
Where the Idea Started
Body Text
The idea for iCarBuyer came from something I witnessed repeatedly throughout my automotive career.
A customer would begin shopping with a payment in mind—perhaps $350 a month. Once the vehicle, taxes, financing terms, trade equity and any optional products were considered, the realistic payment might be closer to $450.
The problem was not necessarily the additional $100. It was that the customer often saw the complete picture for the first time while already sitting in the dealership.
The dealership still has an important role in confirming the vehicle, price, financing, trade value and available products. The issue I kept seeing was timing: several unfamiliar numbers were arriving at once.
That led to a simple question:
What if buyers could see how $350 becomes $450 before visiting the dealership?
The Math Hasn’t Changed—Only When You See It
Vehicle prices change. Interest rates change. Trade values change. The basic way a payment is created does not.
The amount financed, interest rate, term, taxes, down payment, payment frequency and trade equity all work together. A buyer may discover that the balance owing on a trade has a greater effect than expected, or that the term—not only the interest rate—is driving the payment.
iCarBuyer gives people a private place to adjust those pieces, compare different scenarios and see how each choice may affect the payment and total cost of borrowing.
The goal is not simply to calculate a payment.
The goal is to understand the decision.
Preparation, Not a Replacement
iCarBuyer was built to work alongside the dealership process, not replace it.
At home, buyers can build an estimated purchase scenario, explore cash, finance or lease, enter their trade information and see how different choices may affect the result.
When they speak with a dealership, they are not starting from zero. They arrive with a clearer understanding of the numbers, allowing the dealership team to confirm the details, explain the available options and help them move forward with greater confidence.
All figures generated through iCarBuyer are estimates for planning and educational purposes. Final vehicle pricing, availability, trade value, financing approval, interest rates, fees, taxes, products and payments must be confirmed by the dealership, lender, insurer or applicable provider..
iCarBuyer® — Understand first. Decide with confidence.
